monthly meet up

The flow

A lot has unfolded since I got serious about having a monthly catch up for artists.

I found out that a google workspace account only cost about $30 per month.

That is so doable, considering I’ve been overpaying some of my monthly bills. I was able to scale a couple back and covered the subscription without changing my outgoings.

It’s always amazing to me how easy something is when you find the reason to do it.

I ended up getting the account because I had experimented with a google form, eliciting information from potential customers regarding custom made pieces from my facebook business page. Even though I only ended up with one order, which didn’t actually turn into a paying customer, I was still really pleased with what I had learned about the tool and I was able to use what I learned for the next thing.

The full functionality of Google Workspace is beyond my ability to even comprehend, but I’m really enjoying having a play with the things I do understand and will use straight away.

I realised there was quite a bit of information I wanted to share with people that were interested in meeting online once a month.

This took me into setting up a Youtube channel, that way I could make a short video explaining what I was doing and I linked that into the google form. I also realised I could use videos from other social media on this platform, to build my profile as a weaver and teacher, and get my work out to more people.

I then linked the bio from my website into the form, fleshing out understanding of who I am and giving some examples of some of my recent work.

These moves allow for a possible client to learn more about me and start to see the profile I have created online. Hopefully it comes across well, is professional looking and showcases some of my my other skills in a good light. It lends to a business’ legitimacy if there’s more concrete evidence that they actually exist and aren’t just a hastily knocked up facebook page with one or two random photos.

I’m really enjoying seeing this all unfold. I realise planning is important, but if you don’t actually know what you’re trying to do, how can you plan it?!

It’s all happening organically.

Ever since I began weaving, things have just kept happening and I’ve just kept saying yes to the opportunities that arise out of them.

It’s almost as if I found my ara.
